James was the oldest of 3 children and was born in Mountain View, California and later moved to Seattle, Washington with his parents and two younger sisters. Seattle seems like home, but as an adolescent the moved around the mainland USA often. His father was in the Navy.
This is where James developed a love for and became passionate about serving his country and in 1997 James joined the Air Force. By early 1999 he was sent to a duty station in Kuwait where he remained stationed until 2000. He served active duty in the Air Force until 2002. He is very patriotic, and love’s both country and flag. He is active in the motorcycle community and often rides to support our troops.
His formal career in the automotive career started at Goodyear Tires where he worked in conjunction with his formal education at Weber State from 2002 – 2004, while working to support himself and to build a better life. After graduation and with his new credentials he began working at both Honda and Acura dealers in the area until 2014. He also served as a reservist at Hill Air Force Base until 2012. When an opportunity at Halliburton as a Heavy Duty Diesel mechanic opened up, he jumped on it.
By January 2015 his love had turned to Becky… crazy as it may sound she agreed to marry him. They were joined in a beautiful ceremony at the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas on January 10, 2015. With Becky by his side and a growing disdain for the unethical practices at most dealerships and mechanic shops James and Becky opened Mercenary Automotive at the end of 2016.
The rest is chronicled in the ongoing saga of their growing success. Mercenary Automotive rapidly became the go-to shop for people tired of being taken advantage of by other mechanics. And an active member of the “Divorce Referral Network” in Davis County, and a growing shop in Woods Cross, Utah, the future looks so bright they both need to wear shades.
Personal Goal: Ride motorcycle around Ireland
Hobbies: Jeeps & Off-roading, motorcycles, hiking, camping, racing
Becky (Taylor) Busby
Becky is no stranger to danger. Growing up in the rough, tough and tumble town like West Jordan Utah, she knows how to handle herself. But more importantly, she knows how to handle her husband, James. Don’t get me wrong, Becky will jump onto her own Harley and roll up next to you alongside him. However, she manages to extrude calmness and serenity while rolling with class and excellence.
Born the second child, with one older brother and two younger sisters. She had her heart set on becoming a veterinarian. Showing maturity and great decision making, she excelled at all of the Advanced Placement (AP) classes she could manage in High School.
Drawn toward veterinary school, she ended up instead drawing blood for Biolife. Today she juggles a crazy schedule working with as a clinical lab technician. Previously Becky worked as a phlebotomist, geriatric, Alzheimer/dementia, and adult special needs care centers, weight loss, body detox, spinal decompression, and a neuropathy therapy center.
She is half owner of Mercenary Automotive. She “rolled the dice” and married James in Las Vegas on January 10, 2015. She fearlessly continues to fight for the downtrodden women, that need help with something as simple as dependable transportation. She and her husband are both passionate about helping with that.
Although, she has a fear of heights, and only been on a plane one time in her life. She has agreed to skydiving with James (and her web developer). There I’m sure she will also handle James, herself and any situation with incredible posture, poise, and Becky’s own style.
Personal Goal: Run a small family farm
Hobbies: Listen to music, plays violin & cello, cook, bake, clean, camping, hiking, motorcycles
